Things seem to be going well in Landry Albright’s world—she’s getting invited to be on local talk shows to talk about her modeling career, her best friends have her back, and her boyfriend Vladi has becoming someone she can truly count on…and then everything changes.

Suddenly it seems like most of the girls in school are into hanging out at a new teen dance club, while Landry just wants to spend her weekends playing video games and baking cup-cakes at sleepovers. Then, Yasmin McCarty, the most popular girl in school, starts to come between Landry’s friendship with her best friend Ashanti. Things take a turn when Yasmin tells Vladi that Landry is interested in another boy. Can Landry get her relationships with Ashanti and Vladi back or will she be left behind?

Landry in Like Landry True Colors Series Book 3 edition by Krysten Lindsay Hager Children eBooks

While some of the problems from the first two books have been resolved there are still some lingering doubts in the girls’ minds when it comes to their friendships. Landry is afraid that once high school starts she is going to be ditched by her friends and be left alone in a big public school. The backstabbing of middle school life is still going strong in this book, it is such a sad reality that this happens in our world. This book takes you down memory lane and it is not always memories that you want to have.

A teen dance club opens and it seems that nearly everyone wants to go, Landry is not overly comfortable in that scene but like many girls her age (boys too) she does not want to feel so she has to decide what to do. Does she do what she wants to do or go with the crowd? I loved that this came up in the story, it is such a hard topic for young people to talk openly about with parents. It is a great starting point for a discussion with my daughter. “If you were in Landry’s shoes what would you do?”

Then there is the first date and all that goes with that. Landry in Like was the PERFECT ending for the Landry’s True Colors series. I am buying it in paperback for my own library and a paperback copy for my daughter as well. Krysten Lindsay Hager creates a tale that may help cross that generation gap that some kids and parents seem to have, opening doorways for them to be able to discuss what they might be too embarrassed to talk about on their own.

Landry in Like Landry True Colors Series Book 3 edition by Krysten Lindsay Hager Children eBooks Reviews

Landry's having a boyfriend, her modeling career is going pretty well and she has great friends. She's happy with the way things are, but they can't remain like that forever. Her world keeps changing. While she loves spending time at home her friends want to go to a teen dance club, a place that scares Landry. She doesn't like the noise and she doesn't feel comfortable there. Some of her best friends love going and then her best friend starts to hang out with other people. Unfortunately one of them doesn't like Landry at all and she makes life very difficult. Somehow Landry keeps getting into situations where she has to defend herself for things she didn't do. Can she make people see the truth?

Landry in Like is another great story in the Landry's True Colors series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. I love Landry. She's sweet, she stands for what she believes in and she's honest. Sometimes she stumbles through life, which makes her realistic and approachable. It's what I like best about her. Landry's growing up and she's doing that in a really nice way. I love reading about her boyfriend, her friends and the things she likes to do.

Krysten Lindsay Hager knows how to write a story from the point of view of a fourteen-year-old. Her writing is realistic and it feels genuine. Landry matures and therefore Krysten Lindsay Hager's writing is more mature as well. I admire how she manages to match her writing with what she writes about. Reading about Landry brings back a lot of memories from my own childhood and I think it's great that she teaches girls that age some valuable lessons without making the story too obvious or moralistic. Landry in Like deals with a lot of different topics. Some light and fun and some a bit more heavy. I loved the balance and enjoyed reading the story very much. I think the Landry's True Colors series is great and highly recommend it.
This was the perfect book for teens! The author is so descriptive, I could almost hear the music pulsing in the background of the scene when the characters feel awkward at a new teen club. This book reminded me so much of seventh and eighth grade, and also reminded me how I'd never go back because middle school girls can be mean! Life lessons abound, as Landry is a good role model for any 14-year-old girl. I would have loved this book as an eighth grader! Definitely recommend this entire series!
Once again, I'm amazed at Ms. Hager's ability to channel my inner teen. I often view life, especially the past, with rose colored glasses and the hard times don't seem quite as bad as they were. This story, and series actually, takes me back to my 8th grade year and accurately conveys many of the feelings, emotions, and actions taken by average girls that age--even me! Landry is a likable character, trying to figure out who she is and who her true friends are. She handles the drama fairly well, considering that she has friends who get mad at her for no reason (or for something trivial), mean girls attacking her, a crush and all the drama that goes with that, and a fledgling modeling career. Girls can be so catty and their jealousy is crazy. I've loved Landry's journey and watching her blossom.

Friendships are really tested at this age and life seems to revolve around acceptance by peers. I love the way Ms. Hager develops the other characters. They each seem to have one foot in childhood and one foot in adulthood and they're all trying to forge their way through. From the outside, looking in, it's easy to see the decisions these teens should be making and the ways they should be reaching out or standing up for their friends, but at the same time, it's also easy to see why they do and say what they do. Maybe it's just that I've lived through it and it makes sense to me. It's amazing how each one is insecure about herself in different ways. The emotion is definitely abounding in this one!

I'm not sure how many books will entail Landry's story, but I'm eager to see what happens next and to watch her grow up some more.

Content middle school/high school drama; mild romance. Clean!!

*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*
Landry is just a girl trying to figure out where she fits in with her group of friends. She's not really into the whole teen club scene. She would much rather hang out at home, read, or play the latest mystery game with her friend. When Landry's best friend start hanging out with a new group of friends, Landry fears she may be leaving her behind. On top of that, she has to navigate the uncharted waters of having her first boyfriend. I would have liked to see a bit more happening in the storyline, but overall this would be a great gift for that tween girl in your life that loves books about friendship, school, and coming of age!
